While the fog protects, your phone receives the usual Ajax alert. You decide what to do next (police, neighbour, return home).
3 integration methods
1. Via Ajax Relay (low voltage, the most discreet)
The Ajax Hub scenario closes a dry contact on the Ajax Relay module upon detection. This dry contact is wired directly to the Smoke-Defender NO/NC input. Instant triggering.
- Install the Ajax Relay behind the Smoke-Defender fog generator (or in a nearby flush mount box)
- Wire the relay terminals (dry contact) to the NO input of Smoke-Defender
- In the Ajax app, create a scenario: "intrusion detected in room X" → "close the relay"
- Test in simulation mode before commissioning

2. Via Ajax WallSwitch (230V, wall-mounted)
Alternative to the Relay if you prefer a 230V module housed in a standard wall box. Same principle: the Ajax scenario closes the contact that triggers Smoke-Defender. Useful if your electrical setup already includes a controlled switch.

3. Integration via home automation hub (SmartLife/Tuya)
If your Ajax Hub is already paired with a home automation hub supporting SmartLife/Tuya, you can trigger Smoke-Defender via the SmartLife app on an Ajax event. More complex to set up and reliant on WiFi — only recommended if you already have this configuration in place.

- Which Ajax relay should I use to connect Smoke-Defender?
Two Ajax modules are suitable: (1) the Ajax Relay (low voltage 7-24V, compact module to install in a flush mount box, ideal behind the generator); or (2) the Ajax WallSwitch (230V, controlled switch that fits in a standard wall box). Both are controlled via an Ajax scenario and close a dry contact — exactly what the Smoke-Defender NO input expects.
- Can my Ajax installer handle the integration?
Yes. Any certified Ajax installer can configure a Hub → relay → dry contact scenario. The operation takes around 15 minutes. We provide a step-by-step technical guide to installers who want it. Contact us if your installer has questions.
- Does Smoke-Defender also trigger when the Ajax alarm sounds?
Not automatically — the Ajax siren and the fog are two separate actions. You configure the exact fog trigger conditions via an Ajax scenario (for example: intrusion detected in the living room between 10 PM and 6 AM → close the relay → trigger Smoke-Defender).
- Can I keep my Ajax monitoring subscription?
Yes. Smoke-Defender complements your Ajax installation, it does not replace it. The alarm continues to sound and alert your monitoring centre as before. The fog simply adds the layer of physical deterrence that prevents the theft during the intervention.
- Is there a partner programme for Ajax installers?
